Not sure what you have planned for this, but my needs are pretty basic. I just need to be able to fill in and view an estimated number of hours for an issue, then see this in lists of issues. As a bonus, if it could add up the total hours in a list that would be great, but I can live without it. I use this to prioritize issues and group them into releases and builds.

The next obvious step beyond this is to be able to enter (and edit) number of hours worked, and have the remaining # of hours automatically computed (detailed view would show total estimate, worked, and remaining; lists would probably just show remaining). This is what I have available in Bugzilla, and it's occasionally mildly useful, but most of the time I only use the original estimate (for planning purposes) and don't track actual time worked.

It's great that you are planning this feature in the next version. When would it be available? Now it is the only thing that blocks me to deploy YouTrack...

It would be great to add simple time counters (similar to http://www.getharvest.com/), and a new window Timesheet to present what we were working on today.

What I would find useful is a feature to just enter the number of hours actually worked. This is invaluable for hour-based contracting. There should be a user permission to view the hours worked, so that I can permit the client to see the times on bugs in their project. Currently I have to stick to Bugzilla for hourly-paid stuff and YouTrack for everything else. Suboptimal.

Time tracking (per ticket and project) is the only thing I'm really missing. We still have to use another software for external projects because of time tracking.

Time Tracking is one the key feature needed for every project. It has to be implemented like comments, History as Tab one to facilitate multiple time tracking for every issues.

Is this still planned for the next version?

Currently the missing time tracking possibility in Youtrack is the main blocker for our company for using Youtrack.

Same here - youtrack is very user oriented and saves time compared to other solutions, but without timetraking is no go for us.

Is this still planned for YouTrack 4 (Fascination)? The official EAP page says that YT will be released in 21 days from now but this feature isn't present yet in the EAP builds.

@julien @andy we have started development of the feature, but still do not have anything we can ship with EAP.
We're not going to stop yt4 release if this feature is not ready before planned release date. But if so, we'll release it ASAP with next 4.x update.
